Mean coin age

Avg age of live coins (+$-weighted) — Average age of the live coin base (+ dollar-weighted twin). Rising = aging in wallets; falling = old supply reactivating

What it shows

Mean coin age examines the age structure of Bitcoin's unspent supply: Avg age of live coins (+$-weighted). It shows whether coins are maturing in wallets or being returned to circulation.

How to read it

Rising = coins aging in wallets (holding). A sharp drop means old supply just moved. The dollar-weighted twin tells you if the move was economically significant.

Good to know

Age bands are a lens on UTXOs, not on people. One holder can control many addresses, and a coin can move for reasons other than selling.
